What does it mean to dream about dust?
Dust often pictures the settling of time, neglect, or things long untouched, the fine remains of what has worn away and gathered in the quiet.
Four ways to read it
Each reading below comes from a named tradition and a cited source, so you can see where it came from and decide what fits your dream.
Freud
Freud would read dust as the sign of something left unattended, a matter set aside and slowly covered over. It can stand for memories or feelings allowed to gather in the corners of the mind.

Jung might see dust as the residue of time over parts of the self that have gone untended. To stir or clear it can mark a return to something old that has been quietly waiting.
Jungian concept (our summary).Modern
The continuity view ties dust to waking awareness of neglect, of time passing, or of things put off and gathering quietly. Whether it feels sad or simply ordinary usually points to the concern behind it.
Continuity hypothesis (our summary).Mythological
Dust stood in many traditions for the end of all flesh, the ground from which life was shaped and to which it returns. It was spoken of as the humble matter at the beginning and the close of every story.
