About Rosmerta Publishing

What we do

We restore the books and we build the references.

We rebuild public domain texts into modern editions. We proof them, reset them and publish them properly. Alongside the books we build free references for the languages themselves, covering the alphabet, pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary. Publishing a complete text in the language itself is the goal we are working towards.

Why it matters

A language goes quiet long before it goes.

When the last fluent speakers go, the stories go with them. The myths and folklore of a people live inside the words they were told in. We publish so their magic is never lost.

How we work

Every entry carries its source.

We do not guess. Each word in our references names the dictionary or manuscript it came from and the year it was recorded. Where the sources disagree we say so. Where a form is a modern revival rather than a historically attested one we mark it as such.

Who writes here

One name.

Everything here is published under one name, Rosmerta Publishing. No article carries a personal byline, and no author name on this site is a real person. We write in different registers for different subjects, but the company is answerable for all of it. Where a real person contributes to the work or corrects it, we name them, with their permission.

How the work is checked

We use AI to build our tools. The programs that touch a restored book are deterministic: the same input gives the same output, and they cannot invent a word that was not on the page. That is why every change we make can be counted and checked.

Two pages set out the whole of it, in detail. Editorial Standards covers where we use AI and where we do not, how we restore an old book, where the sources come from, and what we do when we get something wrong. Review and Sampling Procedure walks through one real job from start to finish, with every figure taken from the files that job produced, including the parts we have not finished.
