Rose bush in a dream: what does it mean?
A plant whose thorns are not thorns, and which needs cutting back hard every year by somebody prepared to be brutal.

Rose thorns can carry a fungus that causes a genuine and unpleasant infection in gardeners, which is a real occupational risk rather than folklore. Gloves are advised and routinely ignored.

The thorns are technically prickles, outgrowths of the skin rather than modified stems, which is why they snap off cleanly. Roses grown on their own roots and roses grafted onto a rootstock behave quite differently, and a neglected grafted plant reverts to the wild stock beneath. The suckers come from below the graft and eventually outcompete the rose that was paid for.
