What does it mean to dream about gift?
A gift usually points to what is offered between people, recognition or obligation, so notice who gave it, what it was, and how it felt to receive.
Four ways to read it
Each reading below comes from a named tradition and a cited source, so you can see where it came from and decide what fits your dream.
Freud
Freud would read the gift as an exchange charged with feeling, love offered or a debt incurred. What is given, and whether it is welcome, can carry the wishes between giver and receiver.
After Freud, The Interpretation of Dreams (Brill trans., 1913), public domain.Jung
Jung might see a gift as a quality or possibility being offered to the self, something the psyche is ready to receive. The unopened present can point to a potential you have not yet taken up.
Jungian concept (our summary).Modern
Continuity ties gifts to waking thoughts about relationships, generosity, and what is owed or appreciated. A gift in a dream often echoes a real exchange of care, or a tie that comes with strings.
Continuity hypothesis (our summary).Mythological
The gift of the gods could bless or doom in myth, like the fair-seeming present that hid a snare, the wooden horse offered as a parting gift. To accept a gift was sometimes to accept a fate within it.
