What does it mean to dream about inheritance?
An inheritance in a dream often pictures what you have received from others or an ending that brings a new responsibility, more than money itself.
Four ways to read it
Each reading below comes from a named tradition and a cited source, so you can see where it came from and decide what fits your dream.
Freud
Freud would look for the wish behind the gift, sometimes a longing to be provided for, and sometimes a buried feeling about the one who has died. He might note the guilt that can shadow gaining from a loss. The dream lets a tangled wish come out in safe form.

Jung might see an inheritance as the traits, gifts, and burdens passed down to the dreamer from family and the wider past. To receive it can mark a step into a new role or a reckoning with what one has been handed. He would ask what is now the dreamer's to carry.
Jungian concept (our summary).Modern
Under the continuity view, inheritance dreams often follow real questions about family, money, or the loss of an elder. The mind keeps working on what has been left behind and what to do with it. The feeling in the dream tends to mirror the waking mood.
Continuity hypothesis (our summary).Mythological
Many traditions placed great weight on what passed from one generation to the next, in land, name, and obligation. Stories of disputed legacies and tested heirs recur across cultures. The handing on was treated as a sacred trust, not only a transfer of goods.
