Skyscraper

What does it mean to dream about skyscraper?

A skyscraper often stands for ambition, achievement, and the heights you aim for, along with the vertigo of how far there is to fall.

Four ways to read it

Each reading below comes from a named tradition and a cited source, so you can see where it came from and decide what fits your dream.

Freud

Freud often read tall structures as images tied to ambition and to the self raised high. The skyscraper can stand for a striving for status or a wish to rise above others. Note whether you feel secure at the top or fear the height.

Jung

Jung might see the skyscraper as the aspiring self built upward, reason and ambition reaching for the sky while the foundations rest below. Its height can mark how far you aim. Ask what you are climbing toward and what holds it up.

Modern

Under the continuity view, a skyscraper often reflects waking thoughts about ambition, success, or pressure at great heights. The view from the top can echo achievement, the drop below the fear of losing it. Consider how high you are reaching and how steady you feel.

Mythological

The tower that climbs toward heaven is an old image, from the great ziggurats to the tale of a tower meant to reach the sky. Such structures stood for human reaching and its limits. The skyscraper keeps that ancient ambition to rise.

Interpretations are adapted in our own words from public-domain sources, including G. H. Jungian and modern-cognitive entries are original summaries of those ideas. See the bibliography for full sources.
