What does it mean to dream about skunk?
A skunk often stands for a strong reaction kept in reserve, a fear of giving off the wrong impression, or a warning you would rather others heed.
Four ways to read it
Each reading below comes from a named tradition and a cited source, so you can see where it came from and decide what fits your dream.
Freud
Freud might read the skunk's powerful spray as an image of feeling, often anger or disgust, that the dreamer holds back until pushed too far. Its bold markings could picture a warning the dreamer wants understood. He would ask what such a defence brings to mind for you.

For Jung the skunk can image the instinct to repel what crowds you, a clear boundary backed by force. Whether it sprays or merely warns may mirror how you protect your space and reputation.
Jungian concept (our summary).Modern
In continuity terms a skunk may echo a worry about how you are coming across, or a recent encounter that left a bad smell. Many dreamers find the tone points back to a waking sense of being judged or crowded.
Continuity hypothesis (our summary).Mythological
Several Native American traditions cast the skunk as a teacher of respect and self-command, a small creature whose warning is wise to heed. Phrase and fable also make its name a byword for someone to be kept at a distance.
