What does it mean to dream about god?
Dreaming of God often points to your sense of meaning, authority, or what you hold sacred, and to how you measure your own life against it.
Four ways to read it
Each reading below comes from a named tradition and a cited source, so you can see where it came from and decide what fits your dream.
Freud
Freud tended to read a divine figure as a projection of the father, the early source of law and protection raised to the highest power. The feeling the figure stirs, comfort or judgment, often matters more than the figure itself. Notice what you wished for or feared in the moment.

Jung saw the God image as the Self, the ordering centre of the whole psyche, and an encounter with it as a meeting with what is larger than the ego. Such dreams can carry a sense of being held or called. They may also surface when waking life feels without direction.
Jungian concept (our summary).Modern
Under the continuity view, a divine figure usually reflects waking concerns about meaning, morality, or where you turn for guidance. It can follow loss, a hard decision, or a return to or from faith. Your own beliefs shape what the figure means to you.
Continuity hypothesis (our summary).Mythological
Across traditions the divine appears as light, voice, or overwhelming presence, often at a threshold where a life turns. The point is rarely the figure alone but the change it asks for. What it seems to want from you is worth sitting with.
