What does it mean to dream about hallway?
A hallway often pictures transition, the in-between space that connects one room of life to the next.
Four ways to read it
Each reading below comes from a named tradition and a cited source, so you can see where it came from and decide what fits your dream.
Freud
Freud would read the passage between rooms as a place of movement from one state to another, and sometimes as a charged bodily image. The corridor leads but does not arrive. Note where it is taking you and whether it ends.
After Freud, The Interpretation of Dreams (Brill trans., 1913), public domain.Jung
Jung might see the hallway as a place of passage in the journey of the self, the link between the rooms of the psyche and a sign of change underway. Doors along it can offer choices. Ask what you are moving between.
Jungian concept (our summary).Modern
Under the continuity view, a hallway often reflects a waking sense of being in between, partway through a change with the destination not yet reached. An endless corridor can echo feeling stuck in transition. Consider what passage you are in.
Continuity hypothesis (our summary).Mythological
The threshold and the passage are sacred in many traditions, the liminal space where one is neither in the old place nor the new, watched over by guardians of doorways. To pass through is to be changed. The corridor is a place of becoming.
