What does it mean to dream about wound?
A wound often points to a hurt that is still open, an injury to body or feeling, and the part of you that needs tending.
Four ways to read it
Each reading below comes from a named tradition and a cited source, so you can see where it came from and decide what fits your dream.
Freud
Freud would read the wound as a present hurt to the self, often emotional pain shown in bodily form. An open wound can mark a desire or fear that the dreamer feels as a raw place within.
After Freud, The Interpretation of Dreams (Brill trans., 1913), public domain.Jung
Jung would see a place where the psyche is hurting and asking for attention, the breach through which change may also enter. A wound can mark the very point where healing must begin.
Jungian concept (our summary).Modern
Threat-simulation theory suggests that dreams rehearse harm and danger, and a wound is the body marked by it. Such an image may let you confront a sense of being hurt, whether by conflict, betrayal, or fresh loss, while you sleep. Notice where you feel most exposed to harm.
Threat-simulation theory (our summary).Mythological
The wounded healer runs through myth, from Chiron who could cure all but his own hurt to the maimed king whose wound and whose land are one. The deepest wound is often the source of the greatest gift.
